" contextualization from a South African perspective "

The last days, Prof. Nico Botha of the University of South Africa (UNISA) at our Bible seminary and spoke about contextualization. Contextualization is his opinion on one side from the beginning laid the Bible (in the meaning of each context) and is on the other hand, a relatively new hermeneutic method (contextualization), which since the 1970s in various theological designs reflect (liberation theology, Feminist Theology, Black Theology, etc.). Prof Botha SO works out different levels, to an understanding contextualization of importance are: •
contextualization helps reflect my own beliefs and understand my own biography.
• contextualization we find on every page of the Bible.
• Contextualization means that faith and theology is an integral part of the community, the community and society.
• contextualization is, the prophetic voice of God to be in the midst of society.
• contextualization is a hermeneutical method that has prevailed in the last decades.
A key concept here is inculturation. Inculturation means no more connecting factors of the Gospel to the culture, but speak of a constant interaction between the two. This is also reflected in translations of the Bible clearly. Language as cultural links the gospel with the culture on an intimate way. Another example was the South African Ubunto as a social concept (I am because you are). Then there was a fascinating discussion, which means contextualization in the German context and for our theology.
